Hunter Extraordinaire

How awesome would it be if they aired an episode about Slenderman on Supernatural?

Castiel wasn’t the most sensitive personality but during his time he spent with the Winchester Brothers he learned some things, which was one of the reasons why he noticed the shifting of the mood as soon as he mentioned Sam’s name. The Angel narrowed his eyes slightly before he shook his head about Dean’s apologize. “You don’t need to, Dean. We can’t help it anyway.” As much as it hurt to lose some of his siblings, the Angel tried not to think too much about it.

In the end he continued to watch Dean more attentively, wondering for what reason the other one seemed to be tense so suddenly. He already feared it was because of Sam but he couldn’t be too sure about it, right? Unfortunately he was right with his assumption.

“He’s gone?” The Angel’s azure coloured eyes widening as he heard those words. Some part of him didn’t want to believe what the other one said, another one was already asking why he didn’t notice anything. Well - he’d always had an open ear for the Winchesters but his mind was still more aimed towards Heaven’s civil war.

“Dean. I’m… is there anything I can do for you?”

The dirty blond’s eyes fell to the floor. If there was something he loathed it was when others could notice the mixture of emotions pouring from his eyes, and he couldn’t do a thing to stop them from watering. Even though Cas was one of the very few who had witnessed him like this several times before. “I..” He tried to form a sentence, but his breathing was uneven and began to shiver. He sighed heavily before he swallowed the lump which had suddenly formed in the back of his throat.

Dean remained silent for several moments, trying his best not to look back up at Castiel, even when he felt the Angel’s eyes burn into his skull. Along their journey, Dean had come to  witness many saddening happenings, experienced plenty of heartbreaking moments. However, the times where he watched all of his friends and family members pass one after one, those were of course the hardest. At least, he had his brother to share the grief with.

The hunter clenched his teeth, before he forced himself to look up and have his eyes meet with azure ones. The expression on his face was mournful and matched the sorrowful look which immediately filled his hues at the sight of his friend’s face.

Actually, yes. There is something you can do.” He said quietly. His bottom lip slowly began to tremble along with his entire semblance.

He then took several steps forward, decreasing the distance between the both of them. Leaving him with only a few inches of space separating themselves from one another. Another heavy sigh escaped from him when he gazed deep into azure lights, before he pulled his frined into a firm embrace.

“Cas. Don’t ever die.” He whispered.

The Angel took a look around to investigate their environment for one moment before he decided it wasn’t really important to him. His gaze returned towards the older Winchester who seemed exhausted, judging his whole body language. Castiel didn’t understand most of those references humans liked to use but he was still able to guess someone’s body language.

It was actually good to hear that everything seemed fine because this rarely happened with the Winchester brothers. They always run from one problem into another.

He paused for one moment - considering what to answer but then again, it wasn’t like he could lie anyway; “We lost some of our brothers and sisters” he told the other one while he kept their eyes locked. “But considering the circumstances up there everything got quiet. Which are probably some good news for now.” Which was one of the reasons why he got some time on his hands to be on earth. For some reason time among humans got something like a salvation to him. “Where’s Sam? It’s unlikely not to see you in one room.”

For the several seconds Cas quietly observed their surroundings, Dean had automatically followed wherever his gaze went. When their eyes met once again, a rather crooked smile appeared, which immediately faded at the mention of Sam’s name. “I’m sorry to hear that Cas.” He began, a look of utter sadness had filled his emerald hues. “It seems as if literally everyone and everything is at war with the ones of their own species.”

Dean paused and took a deep breath, closing his eyes as he lightly sucked in his lower lip when he noticed it began to twitch. He opened his eyes, only to have them locked on Azure ones. The blond looked away, as if he were trying to hide the chagrin they carried in them. After all, Cas had this peculiar way of glancing at others, as if he gazed right into their soul. “Who am I even kidding.” he hissed in a lowered voice.

“It’s Sammy.” He said, the shudder in his voice didn’t go unnoticed. Dean looked up at the brunette as he firmly clenched his hands together. “He’s gone, Cas.. He’s gone.”

“Hello Dean.”

The Angel watched the hunter quietly as he tilted his head slowly. He always had the mannerism just to stare at the other one before he even consider it to say something. He was never sure what to expect from Dean anyway.

“Judging that Sam isn’t around nothing particular happened, right?” Normally the two of them only called him if they needed his support.

“Hey Cas.” Dean muttered through a deep sigh while he rested the side of his his head against the palm of his hand, the way he spoke easily gave away that he was exhausted.

He looked up at his friend from upstairs, and when their eyes met, a small, sincere smile formed from the corners of his lips as they lightly curled upwards. “Everything is fine.” he began. “For the time being.” he added.

A sigh of relief escaped him. “Long time no see, buddy. How have you been? Got any news coming from Angel radio?” he asked placidly. Dean hadn’t called for Cas in quite some time, he figured he had to respect that the Angel had his own business to deal with.
